Salem City Club is delighted to welcome back Dr. Ed Dover for his popular, thought-provoking post-election analysis. This year, Ed will focus his attention on results and implications of 2024 national, state, and mid-Willamette Valley elections.
At Western Oregon University, Ed served as a professor in the department of Politics, Policy, and Administration. He has written and spoken extensively on American presidential elections,1960 to the present, focusing on news coverage, television advertising, voting patterns and electoral disputes. He is the author of six books on presidential elections, including most recently On Message: Television Advertising by the Presidential Candidates in Election 2008. At Western, Ed served on the faculty union collective bargaining team, including ten bargaining sessions as team chair and chief negotiator. Ed was appointed Professor Emeritus in 2017 when he retired from teaching.
